Year 4 2026 - 2027
Miss Hurst
Mrs Hough
Welcome to Year 4 and our fascinating Autumn theme...
"TOMB RAIDERS!"
This term we will be exploring the tombs of Ancient Egypt alongside famous Egyptologist Howard Carter. We'll investigate his breathtaking discoveries to help us to learn more about this incredible period of history.
So grab your spirt for adventure (and some sun cream) and lets head back over 3000 years to ancient Egypt.
The past is calling Year 4!
To find out more about the work your child will undertake this term please see the Autumn Termly Overview document in the files to download section of this website.
Here you will also find our 'Welcome back' letter and key documents relating to spelling, our calculation policy and the DFE Multiplication check.

Homework
Homework will be given out on a weekly basis. This will be issued online either via Google Classroom or LBQ on a Friday and we ask that this is completed by the following Friday. We will talk the children through how to access this work ahead of it being submitted so that they are familiar with how to return work. Further information will also be shared during the Year 4 welcome meeting in week 2.
This ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøwork will include a piece of either English (Including comprehensions) or Maths and at times, it may also be a theme based project.
We also ask that you continue to read at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and complete your progress in your 'Reading Logs' (please bring these into school each day). Reading both aloud to a grown up and silently to yourself are both important skills to continue practising throughout this year.
Spellings
We will focus on words taken from the Year 3/4 spelling list which you can find within the ‘Files to download’ section of this webpage.
During our English and Grammar sessions in school, we will practise these but they will also thread into our learning throughout the week.
PE
Our PE slot's will be on a Tuesday (Indoor) and Wednesday (Outdoor).
Please ensure that your child has the correct kit in school each week. Long hair should always be tied back and earrings removed.
As the winter months approach, jogging bottoms and a warm jumper may be worn for outdoor PE.
Please log on to 'Google Classroom' for ongoing updates about class activities and ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøwork.
